Hamilton man charged with child abduction

Hamilton police have arrested and charged a 71-year-old Hamilton man with abduction of a person under 14 years old.

Police responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the area of King St. E and Wentworth St N. on May 3rd and again on May 24th, in the same area.

The investigation revealed that Giovanni Corda approached a 12-year-old girl and invited her into his home for singing lessons and to have her picture taken on May 3rd. Police say he also enticed a 5-year-old girl to accompany him to his home without the permission or knowledge of her parent on May 24.

Corda was arrested and charged on Tuesday.

Police believe there may be more victims who had contact with Corda and ask anyone with information to call police or Crime Stoppers.
