Hamilton man charged, another man hospitalized after stabbing at Good Shepherd

A Hamilton man has been charged following a stabbing that left another man in critical condition at the Good Shepherd Thursday evening.
Police responded shortly after 7 p.m. to 135 Mary St., where they found a man who was stabbed in the chest.
The man was taken to hospital for life-saving surgery. Officers say he remains there in critical condition.
“Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by this situation,” Katherine Kalinowski, Good Shepherd’s chief operating officer, wrote in an email statement to CHCH News.
Hamilton police arrested a 53-year-old man at the scene and charged him with aggravated assault.
A spokesperson for the police service told CHCH News that a search warrant of the accused’s residence is expected.
The Good Shepherd provides services such as emergency food and clothing, community mental health programs and transitional housing to people in need.
