Police have charged a Hamilton man with assault after he slapped an unknown woman and uttered racial slurs.

Officers say the 47-year-old woman was walking along King St. West around 8 a.m. Friday when the man walking in the opposite direction hit her.

The woman called police to provide a suspect description.

Police found the 44-year-old man shortly after. During his arrest, he uttered racial slurs at the woman to the officers.

Officers have charged the man with assault and the force’s crime unit is reviewing this incident.
