Hamilton police have arrested a Hamilton man connected to the break-and-enter Wednesday afternoon at a Stoney Creek home.

Officers say they responded to a break-in around 2 p.m. after an unknown man forced his way into the building through a side door.

Investigators say the homeowner was startled awake from the intrusion. Police allege the suspect fled after a confrontation which prompted a search of the area.

Detectives received a call about a man matching the suspect’s description during the search, who approached a woman outside her home and asked for her help.

When she expressed discomfort in helping him, the man became verbally aggressive before leaving.

Officers arrested 51-year-old Louis Roy from Hamilton soon after, and recovered and returned the stolen property.

Roy is facing charges of breaking and entering, two counts for failing to comply probations, and for obtaining property worth under $5,000 through crime.
