40-year-old man arrested in anti-Muslim hate crime after 2 women threatened

Police have arrested a 40-year-old Hamilton man in connection to a hate crime that took place in Ancaster Monday night.
Police say around 9:45 p.m., a mother and daughter were walking through the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot when a pick-up truck exiting a parking spot almost hit one of them.
The interaction escalated with the man in the truck uttering threats towards the woman while using racial slurs targeting the Muslim community.
The two women tried to run away and hid behind some bushes across the street, however the suspect followed them in his truck and once he found them police say he threatened to kill them.
The two woman screamed for help and people in the area intervened. The man drove off but police were able to get the license plate number.
40-year-old Vince Licata from Cambridge is facing several charges including three counts of uttering threats to cause death, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to comply to probation.

He will appear in court tomorrow for the following charges:* Utter Threat to Cause Death x 3
