Hamilton invests more money in harbour
Hamilton city council is adding more money to contain pollution in Randle Reef.
Councillors have voted to add another 6 million dollars to the 14 million it already plans to spend.
A recent city report estimated the total cost of containing industrial pollution in Hamilton Harbour to be close to 140 million dollars, 35 million more than the estimate last year.
Hamilton hopes the provincial and federal governments will increase their share.
The plan is to cap or contain over 600,000 cubic metres of coal tar by building a shipping pier over it.
