Hamilton home reduced to rubble after fire

A vacant central home in Hamilton went up in flames and was reduced to rubble early Saturday morning.

Hamilton fire says it happened at around 4:30 a.m. on Arkledun Avenue. No one was inside the house at the time of the fire.

Hamilton fire says it took around 30 firefighters to get the blaze under control. Firefighters were also able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring homes. Hamilton fire tells us they received reports that the home was undergoing renovations, but this is not confirmed.

Hamilton fire says the cause of the blaze is not known at this time. Damage is estimated at around $700,000.
