Hamilton hockey showdown

An early season first place showdown in Hamilton public high school hockey. Waterdown and Sherwood went into their game with identical 2-0 records. Late in the first, number 6, Eric Lutsam centres the puck, and it somehow gets behind Sherwood goalie Justin McSpadden to tie the game 1-1. In the second period, Connor Stevens makes a nice defensive play for Waterdown, but then a turnover, and Cameron Stokes picks the top corner to give Sherwood a 2-1 lead.

Stokes was plenty “stoked” Monday as he scored twice to lead the Saints to a 3-1 win. Connor King had the other. Sherwood is 3-0, Waterdown 2-1.
