Hamilton hits record high warmth ahead of expected sharp drop

Hamilton reached record high seasonal temperatures Wednesday morning ahead of a sharp cold front and strong winds expected to hit in the afternoon.
The city hit a record high of 12 degrees celsius according to Environment Canada, rising above the previous recorded 9.9 degrees celsius recorded in 1983.
The record-breaking warmth comes as the federal agency issued a special weather statement across Ontario, warning of a sudden drop in temperatures paired with strong winds as the afternoon heads into the evening.
Winds are expected to gust up to 80 kilometres per hour before easing overnight.
The abrupt fall in temperatures also expected has the agency cautioning of icy conditions on roads and walkways as they dip below the freezing mark.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” Environment Canada advised.
Double digit temperatures may not be gone for long. The national weather agency is forecasting temperatures around 11 and 12 degrees returning as of next week.
