The summer sizzle returns on Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for areas in our region, including Hamilton, Halton and Niagara, because of hot and humid conditions.

The temperature is expected to hit 31 degrees C, with a humidex of 37 degrees C.

Overnight temperatures will remain very warm.

The weather agency says these conditions can pose a health risk, especially to older adults, infants and young children and people with chronic illnesses.

People should stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity outdoors.

Cooler temperatures are expected Wednesday.
