Hamilton firefighter injured after falling during at Albion Falls rescue

A Hamilton firefighter has been taken to hospital after falling during a rescue operation at Albion Falls.

Emergency crews were called to the falls around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Three hikers were reportedly lost and needed help finding their way out.

Shortly after arriving, police say a firefighter fell roughly 30 feet while searching for the trio.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Hamilton General hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The hikers were located and a female was treated for an ankle injury.

Police say one of the male hikers had a warrant for his arrest on an unrelated matter.

The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate the incident.
