Hamilton Police are searching for three male suspects following a shooting Wednesday night at the intersection of King Street East and Gailmont Drive. Investigators were called to the area shortly after 9:00pm after receiving several 911 calls from local residents reporting the sound of gunshots.
According to detectives, a 28-year-old man was walking through a convenience store parking lot when he was confronted by a man who assaulted him and then shot him in the leg with a shotgun as he attempted to run away. The suspect then took off on foot to a silver car believed to have two other occupants inside, one being a driver. They were last seen driving northbound along Gailmont Drive. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
Detectives say the victim is not cooperating with the investigation. Police believe the shooting was targeted and involved illegal drug trafficking.
Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have video in the area and will be working to review video footage that may have information as part of the investigation.
