Hamilton duo charged in Oakville jewellery store theft

A pair from Hamilton have been charged in connection with a break-in at an Oakville jewellery store on Saturday.

The theft occurred around 2:45 a.m. at Avalon Fine Jewellery on Lakeshore Rd. where a glass door was smashed and a large quantity of jewellery was reported stolen. 

Halton police have arrested 32-year-old Jarreh Grant and 33-year-old Sarah Skrtich in connection with the incident.

Investigators carried out search warrants for a vehicle and home in Hamilton. Officers found stolen property, including the jewellery, four oz. of methamphetamine, butterfly knives and replica firearms.

Grant faces eight charges, including breaking and entering, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. 

Skrtich has been charged with breaking and entering and possession of property obtained by crime. 

Both suspects are currently being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing. 

Investigators are looking into the possibility of the pair being linked to other break-ins in the area and the identity of the owner’s of the additional stolen property found.
