Hamilton duo charged after break-in at North End business

Two people from Hamilton are facing multiple charges in connection with a break-in at a business in the North End Monday evening.

Police said it happened shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of Sherman and Biggar avenues at a locked commercial compound. Security witnessed on video two suspects breaking in.

The on-site security guard confronted the suspects before they fled the area.

Hamilton police set up a perimeter when they arrived. Officers and the canine unit were able to find the suspects and arrest them “without incident.”

Fifty-five-year-old Michele Wright was charged with four offences, including break and enter – commit and theft under $5,000.

Garett Hughes, 50, faces three charges, including assault with a weapon and possession under $5,000.

Wright had her bail opposed as there were warrants for her with both Hamilton police and Halton police. Police said Hughes was released.
