Hamilton driver unharmed after vehicle struck by train

A 40-year-old man walked away with no injuries after his vehicle collided with a train in Hamilton on Monday evening.

Police say the crash happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. near Strathearne Ave. North and Pier 24 Gateway.

The driver was already out of his vehicle and walking around it when officers arrived at the scene.

The vehicle was wedged against the fence with extensive damage.

Out of caution, the man was assessed by paramedics who confirmed he did not need to go to hospital.

Hamilton police say they are investigating the collision, but it’s unclear if the Transportation Safety Board will take over.
