Hamilton community rallies at City Hall in support of Sudan

There’s a plea from residents in Hamilton for Canada to help the victims of violence and bloodshed in a brutal African civil war.

People from Sudan and their supporters rallied at Hamilton City Hall today to call on Canada to do everything it can to help their families and friends in Sudan.

More than a million people have been forced out of their homes since the fighting broke out. As refugees, some have no water, food, or shelter, and come under repeated attack.

The war in Sudan is a battle between the country’s army and a paramilitary group.

The federal government says Canada is working with the international community to support a peaceful resolution, but says the situation is highly volatile and could get worse.
