Hamilton City Council to debate funding for tasers

Hamilton City Council will debate a motion tonight on a proposal from Hamilton Police requesting the funding for all officers to carry a taser.

It would cost one million dollars to put a taser in the hands of every Hamilton Police officer.

Tonight, councillor Brad Clark says he’s going to ask how much police have spent of this year’s budget, and find out if there’s enough room for the force to pay for the weapons. The money would go towards buying another 150 tasers, and training 579 officers on how to use them.
