Hamilton charity The Baby Depot calls for community aid

The Baby Depot in Hamilton is at risk of losing its storefront location as monetary donations are down. The Baby Depot has provided clothing to over 800 families for almost 10 years but over the past 12 months, it has had some added expenses, and now it’s calling on the community for help.
Stephanie Greenaway is the program coordinator at The Baby Depot in Hamilton’s East End. The store is a one-stop shop for parents who need a little extra help with providing for their children during the first few years.
The Baby Depot is unique as it allows parents to come in and shop, just like at a retail store only the items are free.
“We really want to keep this space open so families can come in and shop and pick out things for their babies,” Greenaway said.
The Baby Depot has been around for the past nine years and for the most part, it was run out of a church, but last year it opened up a storefront on Barton Street East so people could come in and shop.
“We may have to close at the end of the year. We are doing everything we can to keep it open,” Greenaway said.
The charity is going to be hosting a couple of fundraising events over the summer, for more information you can check out their website.
