Hamilton candy factory shuts down due to 4th COVID-19 case

Mondelez Canada has shut down its Hamilton factory after four workers tested positive for COVID-19.

The company says they will continue to pay the 350 employees impacted by the temporary shutdown.

An internal email shared by an employee with CHCH News showed that Mondelez was aware of the first three cases as early as Wednesday of last week.

They shut down production that same day for deep cleaning.

The email also said those initial employees who tested positive had not been present at the factory since April 21 and 22.
