Hamilton calls on Canada-wide shark fin ban

Hamilton politicians have joined the fight against shark fin products.

City councillors have approved a motion that calls upon the federal government to support a Canada-wide ban on the sale of shark products.

The motion also requests that local businesses stop selling shark fin soup.

Toronto, Brantford, Oakville and Mississauga have already banned shark fins in their communities.

Shark fins are served as a popular soup at some Chinese restaurants.
