Hamilton-Burlington SPCA at capacity

The Hamilton-Burlington SPCA says it’s at capacity and needs good homes –especially for cats.

Cages are full and volunteers have been helping out, by taking home some of the overflow. Officials say the spring season is partly responsible.

“We are full with dogs and cats and critters up here. And we were wondering if people could open their hearts and their homes to a new animal,” said Julia Wright, a cat care specialist of the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA.

But Wright warns would-be pet owners to make sure they are ready for the commitment.

“Just remember, for some of these guys it’s a 15, 20 year commitment. We want to make sure that when they get adopted they end up in their forever homes,” said Wright.

All of the cats up for adoption are checked by a vet and spayed and neutered.
