Hamilton begins Christmas tree installations

The 2020 holiday season is likely going to look different than year’s past but one Hamilton Christmas tradition remains in place.

The city is beginning to install this year’s Christmas tree centerpieces.

The tree at Memorial Square in Dundas was installed on Thursday. It came from the Upper Ottawa St. area of the east mountain.

“When we pick the perfect Christmas tree for our display trees, we look for a nice straight trunk. It can’t have a curve in it or when we drop it in the hole the whole tree will slant,” said Steve Hasselman, Superintendent of Parks.

“We look for a symmetrical shape and a nice straight top.”

On Friday, Hamilton City Hall will get its Christmas tree installed.

The Gore Park Christmas tree is coming Nov. 19.

Details on virtual lighting ceremonies will be coming later this month.
