A 30-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Halton Hills.

Police say a GMC Envoy lost control and crashed into a hydro pole near Fifth Line and 5 Side Road early Thursday morning.

A female passenger, 23,  was taken to Hamilton General hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

Crews are on scene investigating and say there is a power outage in the area due to the downed hydro lines.

Halton Regional Police are warning drivers about extremely icy road conditions.
