Halton Police say threatening texts sent to Oakville students may have been a prank

Halton Police say the threatening text messages that prompted a lockdown at an Oakville school may have been a prank.
A small group of students at Gaetan-Gervais Secondary School received threatening messages from an unknown number around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were called and placed the school in lockdown.
A neighbouring school, White Oaks Secondary, was put in a hold and secure and roads to the schools were closed by police.
Gaetan-Gervais Secondary School is currently in lockdown and White Oaks Secondary School is in a hold and secure for a police investigation. Officers are on scene. Mccraney Street East is currently closed. Please avoid the area. More updates to follow.^ra

The lockdowns were in place for about an hour, while officers searched the school.
Police say information suggests that these messages may have been a prank.
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating who sent the messages.
They say threats like this are taken very seriously and can result in criminal charges.
