Halton police rescue 3 dogs from burning house

Halton police say officers rescued three dogs from a burning house Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to reports that a home on Delrex Blvd. in Georgetown was eminating fire around 2:45 p.m.

Neighbours told police the homeowners were not home but said three large German Shepherd dogs were likely inside the house.

Halton police say two officers, Cst. Ryan Brown and Cst. Michael Kenny, entered the house crawling on their hands and knees.

They searched the home, located three dogs and managed to safely bring the canines out.

Halton Hills Fire arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

Police say the homeowner arrived home shortly after and confirmed there was no one else in the residence.

The amount of damage is unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious.

The officers and the dogs were treated by paramedics at the scene and all are doing well.
