Halton Regional Police say the prisoner who was mistakenly released by staff at the Maplehurst Correctional Facility has been found.

Amritpal Singh Aujla, 28, was last seen leaving the facility on foot on Aug. 17.

Halton Police were notified about the error that night.

They say they found Aritpal Singh Aujla in North York on Thursday.

He was arrested and is expected to face new charges.
