Halton Police say there are no grounds to lay charges in a disturbing incident in Burlington last week.

A group of young women were rollerblading around New St. and Walkers Line on June 8.

One of the women captured and shared cell phone video of the incident.

She says a man got out of a car and began yelling and using racial slurs.

In a statement, Halton Police say the language heard in the video is “racist and has no place in our community” but says there is no criminal code charges that could apply.

According to the police service, provisions for hate crimes are largely reserved for offences involving hate propaganda or the promotion or advocacy of genocide.

The statement goes on to thank the victims for exposing what happened and working with police throughout the investigation.
