Halton Police make second arrest in violent summer assault

Halton Regional Police have made a second arrest in a violent assault this summer on the Halton-Peel border.

Officers were called to the area of Winston Churchill Blvd. and Steeles Ave. shortly after midnight on June 20.

Police say three men were surrounded by several vehicles and were attacked by men with bats and sticks.

Two of the victims suffered critical injuries. They have since been released from hospital.

Police have been actively investigating this as a “gang assault.”

Kinderbir Singh, 20, of Brampton was arrested about a week after the incident.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault.

On Wednesday Sept. 5 police arrested 19-year-old Mani Randhawa of Brampton.

He faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a third man, 20-year-old Rankirat Singh of Brampton.

Police say he fled to India the day of the assault and remains at large.
