Halton police have closed part of Waterdown Road in Burlington Monday afternoon due to a gas line rupture.

Phil Barry, platoon chief at the Burlington Fire Department, says at around 1:57 p.m. they received a call that construction in the area hit a large gas line.

He said there are no injuries at the scene, and two trucks are stationed in the area as a precaution.

Officers posted on X at 2:30 p.m. that they had closed down the road between North Service and Flatt Roads.

Police say the roads reopened around midnight.
