Halton police charge man with attempted murder following stabbing in Halton Hills

Halton police have laid an attempted murder charge in relation to an incident in Halton Hills.

On August 20, just before 9:30 a.m., police went to a group home in the area of Third Line and 32 Side Road for reports of a stabbing. Police found a victim suffering from several lacerations.

Police say the accused went to the home to remove a family member who resides there. While they were attempting to do so, an altercation ensued between the victim and the accused that resulted in the stabbing. The victim is an employee of the group home.

The accused fled the scene with the family member in the vehicle and was involved in a collision in the area of 32 Side Road and Fourth Line. Officers located and arrested the accused who was walking in the area of the vehicle along with the family member.

As a result, a 36-year-old man from Quebec has been charged with break and enter, attempted murder and kidnapping.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries and the family member was not injured and was safely returned to the home.

Police say due to the nature of the investigation and relationships between the involved parties, the identity of the accused will not be released and no further details will be provided at this time.
