Halton police arrest Toronto man for human trafficking

A Toronto man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly exploiting a woman for sexual purposes.
Halton police launched an investigation after they were contacted by an alleged victim of the man.
On Wednesday, members of the Halton Regional Police Service Human Trafficking Unit arrested 30-year-old Everett Effah.
He is charged with trafficking in persons, receiving material benefit resulting from trafficking in persons, receiving material benefit from prostitution, exercise control, advertising sexual services, living off the avails of prostitution, procure to become a prostitute, assault, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, and possession of a controlled substance.
Effah has been held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing.
