Halton police are appealing for surveillance or dashcam footage after an officer was dragged by a stolen vehicle in Burlington.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. on Monday in a parking lot at 963 Francis Rd. near Plains Rd. East and the QEW.

An officer attempted to arrest a person who was inside a stolen brown pickup truck but the suspect resisted and started driving away.

The officer was dragged a short distance by the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

The driver struck the officer’s police cruiser as well as another vehicle that was parked nearby.

Police did not chase after the vehicle after it fled the parking lot.

Thirty-five-year-old Timothy Burt, of Milton, was later arrested and charged with dangerous operation, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to stop after accident and assaulting peace officers with weapon or cause bodily harm.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has footage of the area from Monday afternoon is asked to contact Const. Jason Lin at 905-825-4777, ext. 7355.
