Oakville senior’s death now deemed homicide by police
Halton police say the suspicious death of an Oakville senior has now been deemed a homicide.
Police say 91-year-old Edmund Ferraro was found lying on the sidewalk outside his retirement home on Saturday afternoon. He was suffering from serious injuries to his chest and later died as a result of those injuries.
Investigators are urging residents who may have video surveillance from the area to contact police.
“Dash cam footage from downtown Oakville on the afternoon of Saturday, August 24 will assist the Halton Regional Police Service in piecing together what led to the tragic death of 91 y.o. Edmund Ferrari,” said Det. Darren Kellerman, Homicide Unit in a news release. “Even if you think the dash cam video you have might not be of assistance to us, we urge you to bring it forward to our team so we can review it.”
Police are trying to identify a man in his thirties who was spotted driving a Volkswagen Golf around the time Ferrari was found.
He is described as black, roughly six-feet tall, with an average build and shoulder-length hair. He was wearing a black long sleeve hooded shirt, black pants that may have had a reflective or fluorescent stripe.
