Hack the Hammer challenges students find solutions to city problems

This weekend, more than 70 high school and university students from across the GTHA are testing out their ‘hacking’ skills at the Hamilton Public Library.
The ‘Hack the Hammer’ urban hack-a-thon is an invention marathon where participants brainstorm solutions to major urban challenges. By using City of Hamilton’s open source data, students had 30 hours tackle issues like transit and environmental infrastructure.
Organizers hope that the plans created this weekend will help aid future urban development in the city.
