Gunman sought by police following shooting in west Hamilton

Hamilton police are looking for a man in his 30s following a shooting in the city’s west end.

Police received a 911 call from a citizen who reported the possible sounds of gunshots on Broadway Ave. between Ward Ave. and Sussex St. late Monday evening.

Officers arrived on scene shortly after 11:30 p.m. and secured the area.

Police did not locate anyone but confirmed shots had been fired into an unoccupied parked vehicle.

Investigators say a man was seen fleeing the area on foot. He is described as being in his early 30s, white, with dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.

The investigation has been taken over by the Division One Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Detectives are appealing to any residents or businesses in the area to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity.
