Guillermo del Toro wants a studio in Hamilton

It’s no secret Mexican film director Guillermo Del Toro loves the Hammer.

At a Toronto Film Festival Press conference over the weekend, he gushed about his love for the city’s energy and quote- ‘pancakes.’ He said the city is a ‘powerhouse’ of creativity, and that he’d like to set up his own studio here.

While filming his latest feature in Hamilton, “The Shape of Water,” Guillermo live-tweeted about his favourite restaurants and bookstores.

The movie, a fantasy-romance starring Sally Hawkins, won the Venice Film Festival’s top prize on Saturday before heading to TIFF this past weekend.
