Groundbreaking for Milton Velodrome

Pan Am game officials, politicians and cyclists all helped to officially break ground Friday at the Pan Am Velodrome site in Milton.
Many of them were seen getting on bikes of their own as they came together to talk about some of the highlights of the new facility. Pan Am officials say it will be complete in about 15 months. And it remains on budget and on time. The velodrome is expected to open in the fall of 2014. But the facility will be used for much more than the upcoming games. The oval-shaped, three-storey, fully accessible velodrome is designed to function as both an international venue for competitive cycling and as a community recreational centre.
