Greenest school in Canada

St. Marguerite d’Youville school in Hamilton has been recognized as the greenest school in Canada by the Canada Green Building council. Its reduced it’s waste by 90% by focusing on recycling and composting programs. The students have taken innovative steps to make sure their community respects the world they live in.
Plastic water bottles are banned, instead the school has hydration stations. Parents are asked to pack litterless lunches and organics are put in compost bags and recycling in blue boxes.
St. Marguerite d’Youville and a school in Edmonton each received a $2000 prize to be used towards green projects.
