Greater Niagara General Hospital declares COVID-19 outbreak on the inpatient Trillium Unit

Niagara Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on the inpatient Trillium Unit at the Greater Niagara General in Niagara Falls.
Currently, two healthcare workers and 6 patients on the unit have tested positive for COVID-19.
The hospital have added additional safety precautions in place in response and further testing of patients and staff will be ongoing.
Statement from Niagara Health:
“This is a very unfortunate situation, and we have taken immediate action to protect the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and physicians,” says Derek McNally, Executive Vice President Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive.
“Additional support and education are underway to prevent further spread of this highly contagious virus, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment.”
