Government money for Ford Oakville
3000 jobs at Ford’s Oakville assembly plant are expected to be secured when the Canadian and Ontario governments announce a big investment in the operation on Thursday.
The federal and Ontario governments will contribute about $135-million towards a total investment that could be as high as $725 million to retool the Oakville auto assembly plant.
The investment in Oakville will enable the company to assemble the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossover vehicles.
The platform also provides the base for the mid-sized Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans.
