Legendary Pictures and Universal Studios will be filming a haunting gothic horror story in Hamilton.

Producer Callum Greene says they scouted all over Ontario and Hamilton provided three locations to re-create a thriving 1900s environment. Crimson Peak is scheduled to be released in IMAX theatres on October 16th, 2015.

The film stars Mia Wasikowska, known for her role in Alice in Wonderland and Jane Eyre as well as Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in The Avengers.

Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain will also be in the film. She is best known for her roles in Zero Dark Thirty and The Help.

The film will be directed by Guillermo del Toro (above), who also made Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim.

The production companies have also announced a casting call for Hamilton. They are looking for 80 adults between the ages of 18 and 85, both male and female. Filming will take place 1 to 3 week days during April. If interested email extrascastinghamilton@gmail.com with a head shot and clothing measurements.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article gave the title of Haunted Peak. This is only a working title used for studio purposes; the screenplay’s original title will be retained for release.
