Google has released its annual “Year in Search” list.

U.S. election topped the list of the year’s top trending searches, with coronavirus and Kobe Bryant rounding out the top three. Zoom, Raptors and CERB also made the top ten list.

Global queries including the word “why” were searched more than in any year before, including “why is it called COVID-19?” and “why was George Floyd stopped?”

Coronavirus topped the list of trending Canadian news searches, followed by CERB and Air Canada stock.
