Ancaster’s Summer Mortimer won a gold medal while breaking her own world record Friday at the Paralymic Games.

Mortimer, who suffered a severe foot injury after a trampoline accident, earned top spot in the women’s S10 50-metre freestyle. Her victory comes a day after she swam to a silver medal in the 200-metre individual medley.

Nathan Stein of Surrey, B.C. earned silver in the men’s S10 50-metre freestyle, and Brianna Nelson of Victoria took silver in the women’s S7 50-metre butterfly.
