Getting school kids into the holiday spirit

It seems Christmas parties are happening everywhere. But especially at schools where grown-ups are busy getting the kids into the holiday spirit before the Christmas break.
The gymnasium at Cathy Wever school in Hamilton is full of Christmas cheer. Its the 8th annual Rotary Christmas party. All 620 students are served a turkey dinner provided by Mission Services.
Peter Quaglia, President of Rotary Club of Hamilton: “The kids come down, we have entertainment for them. Santa Claus comes.”
Local volunteers and corporate support including Ontario hydro, the Firefighters of Hamilton area, Aviva Canada insurance, Burgeonvest Bick Securities, BMO and visiting dignitaries such as Police Chief Glenn De Caire help make this party a success.
Live entertainment included Turkey Rhubarb, Rob Blunsdon, The Salvation Army Band, Paul Gordon Dancers and Miss Candy Cane. Not to mention the anchors of it all The Rotary Club of Hamilton.
Quaglia: “They all come out to help us. And it is as much their event as it is ours, as it is the kids.”
