George Santos expelled from U.S. House

Scandal-plagued U.S. Republican Representative George Santos has been expelled from Congress – bringing an end to the freshman’s tumultuous tenure on Capitol Hill.

Santos’ brief career in the House of Representatives coming to an end today, when fellow lawmakers voted to expel him over criminal corruption charges and accusations of misspending campaign money.

The House voted 311-114 to immediately remove the lawmaker – above the two-thirds majority required to oust one of its own.

Santos has been mired in controversy since his November 2022 election, after he admitted to fabricating much of his biography.
