The story of 25-year old Blake Geoffrion is a sad one. Geoffrion, who suffered a serious injury while playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs last fall has been forced to retire from hockey.

The Bulldogs were playing Syracuse in a game at the Bell Centre on November 9th, when Syracuse’s J.P. Cote caught Geoffrion with a thunderous check. Geoffrion suffered a depressed skull fracture. Geoffrion says after taking time to recover and reflect, he decided to step away from hockey for the time being. Which does leave the door open for a comeback. Geoffrion was a 2nd round pick of Nashville in 2006. He played 19 games with the Bulldogs and 13 with the Montreal Canadiens.
