Gaza hospital struggles amid Israel-Hamas war

The World Health Organization says Gaza’s largest hospital is “no longer functioning as a hospital anymore,” while hundreds of patients are still reportedly inside the health facility.
Health officials at the Al Shifa hospital also say due to the fighting outside the hospital and lack of resources, many who are still inside are at risk of dying including dozens of babies.
The hospital and the UN agency add the facility has been without water and electricity for three days and the situation has become dire, they are also calling for a ceasefire.
Thousands have fled the hospital already but the ones still behind are many workers and infants, who hospital officials say are wrapped up and removed from incubators after their oxygen supplies ran out.
Under the rules of war, hospitals are protected areas. But a U.S. national security advisor backed Israel’s claim that Hamas is headquartered at the hospital with fuel on hand.
Hamas and hospital officials deny the accusation. Meanwhile, a Palestinian UN agency says its aid operations will stop in the next 48 hours unless fuel is allowed back into the Gaza territory.
