Gas leak forces evacuation

A gas leak in Hamilton this morning forced the evacuation of a school, recreation centre and some residents.

It’s believed the leak stemmed from Sanford Avenue School, which was empty at the time. Police say Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre and Cathy Wever School were evacuated.

Police also evacuated homes on Huntley Street and Madison Avenue. There are no reports of any injuries, and crews are currently on the scene.
