Country music superstar Garth Brooks performed in front of thousands of fans in Hamilton over the last four days. He sold out five shows at the FirstOntario Centre but it isn’t just fans who are singing his praises, Brooks was also a boon for local businesses.

Thanks to Garth Brooks, the owner of “The George Hamilton” says they had their best nights ever: “We did about a month an half of business in four days.”

The First Ontario Centre seats over 17 000 people. Garth did five shows, so he brought about 85 000 people to downtown Hamilton, and before and after the show, those people had to eat and needed somewhere to sleep. The Sheraton, Staybridge and Homewood Suites were all completely sold out. The hotel’s director of operations says that is double what they usually do at this time of year.

Blue Line taxi reports they were doing about 500 trips per hour on Saturday night and parking lots close to the venue didn’t do too shabby either. They were sold out every night Brooks was playing.

This is the first time Brooks has played in Hamilton in 19 years and fans and businesses agree, he made up for the wait.
