G20 cop sentenced

The Toronto police officer found guilty of using excessive force while arresting a protester at the G20 summit three years ago, has been sentenced to 45 days in jail.
The Crown argued that Constable Babak Andalib Goortani lashed out at 30-year old Adam Nobody, hitting him with a baton after he was wrestled to the ground. Goortani’s lawyer said his client saw four other officers struggling to restrain Nobody, and his actions were “a textbook example of police training.”
Goortani was one of two officers facing criminal charges stemming from the arrests, but earlier this year, Constable Glenn Weddell was acquitted.
